Course overview Our Bloodborne pathogens training is designed to provide participants with the knowledge needed to understand the risks associated with exposure to bloodborne pathogens and apply proper safety practices to reduce the possibility of workplace exposure. Through classroom instruction and practical discussions, participants will learn how bloodborne pathogens are transmitted, how to recognize potential exposure situations, the importance of universal precautions, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), exposure prevention methods, and appropriate response procedures following an exposure incident. The course emphasizes OSHA requirements and workplace practices that help protect employees who may encounter blood or other potentially infectious materials during their job activities. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to: Understand what bloodborne pathogens are and why they are a workplace concern. Identify common bloodborne pathogens and potential sources of exposure. Recognize workplace activities that may create exposure risks. Understand OSHA requirements related to bloodborne pathogens. Apply universal precautions to reduce the risk of exposure. Identify appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for exposure prevention. Understand proper procedures for handling contaminated materials. Recognize the steps to take following a potential exposure incident. Understand the importance of reporting exposure incidents promptly. Apply safe work practices to protect themselves and others in the workplace. Why this training matters? Employees who may come into contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials face serious health risks if proper precautions are not followed. This training helps organizations improve workplace preparedness, strengthen exposure prevention practices, and ensure employees understand how to respond safely to potential exposure situations. Course details Course duration: Approximately 2 hours Schedule: Monday through Friday (subject to instructor availability) Language: English or Spanish Training format: Classroom instruction combined with practical discussions and real-world examples. Certificate: Certificate of Completion is not provided for this course. Attendance verification Participants are required to sign the attendance roster at the beginning of the training session. A signed attendance roster will be provided to the client as part of the training records. Training requirements A minimum of 6 participants is required to schedule a private training session. Class size is limited to a maximum of 40 participants per session to ensure an effective learning experience. Training location Training may be conducted at your facility or at our training location: IEC Independent Electrical Contractors 8868 Research Boulevard, Suite 500 Austin, TX Training conducted within the Austin area does not incur additional travel charges. For locations outside the Austin area, applicable mileage and, when required, hotel accommodations for the instructor will apply. A classroom rental fee of $200 per training day applies only when training is held at the IEC training facility. Customized training This course may be customized to address your company's specific operations, workplace hazards, exposure risks, and project requirements.
